V. LAMPROU S.A. was founded in 1996, until 1997 the Mediterranean Resort 4* Hotel was built in the centre of Paralia Katerini in Pieria and in the same year it started its operation. In 1997 a hotel was purchased in Litochoro, Pieria, at the foot of Mount Olympus, which was renovated and upgraded to 4* and in 2004 it started operating under the name Olympus Mediterranean. In 2006 the construction of the Mediterranean Village 5* hotel complex started in Akti Kallithea, Paralia Katerini. Mediterranean Village Hotel & SPA with 176 rooms has been operating in its final form since 2009. The company operates mainly with customers from the European market, with significant percentages also coming from outside the EU. Each hotel offers services aimed at a different audience, thus covering all the requirements of the tourist markets. The company’s main objective is to reduce the negative impact of its hotels’ activities on the environment. The company fully understands the need to implement measures, actions and practices aimed at preserving the environment. At the same time, as a tourism company, it has taken initiatives aimed at protecting staff and customers from crises such as the current one (COVID-19). In view of the above, the company is constantly updating its environmental policy and implementing measures to protect/prevent from the pandemic, acting as a model example in the areas of sustainable accommodation and crisis management.

The CERTH is a non-profit legal entity under private law (NPO) supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Ministry of Development and Investment. On March 30, 2012, the Institute of Chemical Process Engineering was merged with the Institute of Technology and Technology of Chemical Processes. Solid Fuels Applications and created the Institute of Chemical Process Technology & Applications Energy Resources (HRP). Through the parent institutes, the researchers of the Centre have a long track record of successful participation in projects funded either by the EU or by national funds.

The main areas of specialisation include research, technological development and demonstration activities in renewable energy, solid and liquid (bio)fuel production and use, energy saving and environmental protection.

The Institute employs a scientific staff of about 200 people, while its inputs amount to approximately 10 million euros / year.The main mission of the Institute is to conduct basic and applied research, to develop leading technologies for the production of innovative products and services and to pursue scientific and technological excellence in selected areas of Chemical Engineering, including Energy, Environment, Materials and Processes, in order to meet the needs of the Greek and European industrial and manufacturing sectors. In addition, EKETA/IDEP has the Laboratory of Fossil Fuels Technologies (ETOK) which applies a quality management system according to the requirements of ELOT EN ISO/IEC 17025. The laboratory is ISO 9002 certified for most of the analytical services it provides. The equipment of the ETOC includes the necessary instruments for the complete characterization of fuels and the provision of analytical services of the laboratory is carried out according to international standard methods. Their quality is guaranteed by the many years of experience of the staff of the Institute’s staff in testing and physicochemical controls on solid fuel samples
