The Project

The proposed project ” GREEN INNOVATIVE VALUE SERVICES – GIVS “aims to strengthen the hotel business. This is achieved through key actions that will contribute to the adoption of green policies, aiming at the promotion of a sustainable tourism product and the effective protection of the sector from risks of various origins.

In particular, at the end of the project, the company will have added to its portfolio:

  • Defining and implementing circular economy (CE) good practices, giving tangible solutions to the business.
  • Certification of good practices, which will be implemented during the project, giving a comparative advantage to the participating hotel (the first to receive such certification).
  • Multidisciplinary Digital Application with a focus on crisis management and crisis prevention. At the same time, supporting information/training services will be provided on topics such as “green tourism”.
  • Collaboration with a leading research institution with expertise in CS and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) issues in order to develop CS actions, CSR strategies and publication of certified Sustainability Reports
  • New jobs [at least two (2)]
  • Improving the overall image of the facility and attracting new visitors/investment.
  • Upon completion of the GIVS, the ideal goal is to make the hotel under consideration – Mediterranean Village Hotel & Spa – one of the leaders in Sustainability and Crisis/Hazard Management.

he achievement of the above objective goes through the realization of 2 sub-objectives:

“Circular” Hotel: The Mediterranean Village Hotel & Spa always with the guidance of the CSETA/IDEP by improving the guest experience will further reduce its negative environmental footprint. At the same time, it will target economic indicators (reduction of operating costs) and increase demand through a sustainable way of operating and strengthening the local community.
Crisis/risk management through a digital application: The project will contribute to the total return of the sector to normality, taking into account not only the need to deal with crises such as the current one (of health origin), but also the requirement to prevent and deal with other types of crises (such as natural disasters, pollution).
Mediterranean Village Hotel & Spa as a “Circular” hotel and having applied prevention for crisis management, will be a leading player in the Greek and international market for the practices and actions it will apply. The hotel, through the project, will meet the new requirements of the international markets. The new demands of its customers turn the crisis into an opportunity for sustainable development & operation. At the same time, the Region of Central Macedonia (RMC) will gain a comparative advantage, attracting visitors and investments, as the project equips one of the most important sectors of the regional economy against multifaceted threats. The proposed project sets achievable objectives, combining high quality with the required environmental tools and further upgrading the tourism product. Furthermore, it contributes to the protection of the local community (through the Application) that operates and, by extension, of the MPA and its valuable resources. Through the proposed actions, it contributes to the rewarding, to all stakeholders, smooth operation of a rule-based, people- and environment-focused COO, especially in the current fragile situation due to pandemic COVID-19.
The holistic approach of “GIVS.” is implemented through the complementary expertise and experience of V. LAMPROU S.A. (Mediterranean Village Hotel & Spa), the subcontractors of the company (Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature and TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas) and CPERI/CERTH, the combination of whose participation helps to achieve the objectives of the proposal.
